The Ugly duckling founded by the actor Antonis Voulgaris in 1968 is one of the best original athenian tavernas. After a visit in Acropolis or a walk in the promenade under Acropolis take the way through the Philopappou Hill. On the left you can see the prison of Socrates, where the philosopher drank the conium. On the right is the pictoresque chapel of St. Demetrios. Walk downward the ancient street of Koili gazing the Saronicos Gulf, the island of Aegina, the sea and the mountains of Peloponnese. After 200 meters you can reach the Apolloniou St. through the small bridge. A unique way, not in the direction of the touristic part of Athens but in the direction of Petralona, one of the most beautiful neighbourhoods of Athens with small houses, flowers, cats and authentic aroma of Athens.
